Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen continues the story of the now graduated, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). He is trying to leave behind his history with the autobots to live a normal life with his girlfriend, Mikaela (Megan Fox), but a new team of decepticons arrive on Earth with the intention of stealing the information Sam has inside his head. Sam must post-pone his "normal life" to help take down this new breed of enemies.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has just one thing going for it, the special effects. There is no denying the technical achievements that this film delivers, the special effects team have done a top job. This is literally the only positive thing I can give about this film. The film as a whole is far worse than the predecessor and actually ranks among my bottom ten films of all time. The performances are even worse, the humour just isn't funny, the characters are lifeless beings and the action is just.... no.
There were a few moments of humour in the first that worked, very very few moments, but in the sequel there's none. The film's humour makes these characters come across as dumb and inappropriate, which they very well are. A similar trait in most Michael Bay films, but the humour is also very racist, homophobic and at times it's even sexist. It simply does not work twice, or even once for that matter.
The action is loud and pointless. Anyone who's heard of or unfortunately seen Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will know that it's an action film, just look at the poster. The action is not only filmed atrociously, just like the first, but it also features a number of pointless explosions that set off for no apparent reason. The logic in this film is that a single bullet is enough to cause a mild explosion. On top of all this, Michael Bay and the writers have evidently not heard of physics as none of it is present in the film.
None of the characters act human. Every line of dialogue in the film just comes out as cheesy bulls**t (sorry for swearing, but it's necessary when I'm discussing a film that's this bad). It's not just the dialogue that does this either, the reactions and doings of the characters aren't believable. I won't go into detail as there's just too many examples to choose from, but if you're forced to sit through the film you'll notice a bunch of inhumane scenarios.
To sum up, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a very loud movie with a series of literally unexplained explosions, lifeless characters, cheesy dialogue, terrible acting and racists, homophobic and sexist jokes.
