Get your popcorn ready, ladies and gentlemen, for the most wonderful time of the year is upon us. Well, for us Sydney folk, anyway. Tonight, the much-anticipated 64th Annual Sydney Film Festival is kicking off. With over 200 films spread out between tonight and next Sunday, as well as a number of talks and VR experiences, there’s too much to do for any one person. Challenge accepted. Throughout the coming weeks, make sure to return to Director’s Cut Movies for all the latest reviews. I’ll be covering everything from inappropriate nuns to hard-hitting documentaries to weird hippo-esque creatures to THREE Rooney Mara films (!!!) and so much more.
To stay up to date with everything, and for the ease of navigation, you can check back in here on this article where I’ll be updating it with links to all my new reviews. 10 of these will first be published over on Salty Popcorn, a website I’m incredibly honoured to write for, and they’ll be re-uploaded to DCM shortly after. To check them out first, as well as a few other films I won’t be able to get to but will be covered by Salty Popcorn’s head writer and editor Jason King, head on over to his website, too.
It’s going to be an exciting film festival this year. For as exhausting and popcorn-filled as it’s going to be, I cannot wait. Rest assured, DCM will still be covering plenty of new releases, too, kicking things off with our review for The Mummy this Friday. Make sure to come back for that shortly, and if you happen to run into a bearded, poorly dressed me sometime in the next week and a half, please forgive anything my sleep deprived self is undoubtedly going to say.
